Yesterday we got ready for The Merry Inksters studio’s first farmers market. We decided to take out the studio’s smallest press, a 3″ x 5″ platen press, to let people get a taste of printmaking at our booth.
It’s tiny and adorable and I love it, no matter how impractical it is. This press would have been used by hobbyists or crafters back in the day, not by working printshops–it’s sort of the Holga camera of printing presses.
I figured my favorite elephant cut would be fitting for Earth Day. Plus it was actually small enough to fit in the chase.
It doesn’t work particularly well, and it really isn’t practical in any sense, but I love it anyway.
