Book A Day Challenge: Monday

art, bookbinding, bookmaking, work in progress

Inspired by my weekend at the book arts conference, I’ve decided that I’m going to make a new book each day this week. After all, the best way to reinforce all the stuff I learned is to repeat it before I forget it all.

I was concerned that I’d forget how to make a carousel book, the structure I learned on Saturday, so repeating that process was my first priority once I got home. I didn’t take many pictures while I was working–this book was so small and fiddly that putting it together took most of my concentration.

I also made myself a punching cradle (the thing on the right) based on the ones we used at the conference. It feels good to be home to my cutting mat, which I missed dearly.Photo Jul 01, 10 29 53 PM Detail shot of the layers.Photo Jul 01, 10 29 45 PMAnd here’s the finished book! Working so small was bit of a chore–I don’t know why I keep making mini books. Perhaps I’ll size up for tomorrow’s project.
