I know I haven’t posted in a few days, but that’s because I’ve been SEWING LIKE THE WIND. Check out the progress. Shameful confession: I lost the pattern for this section of the piece (the microphone and the whole area around it). That’s why I waited until last to finish it. Using the same software that I rendered the original pattern with, I re-rendered a new version to get the correct shape for the microphone–the colors I chose entirely through guesswork. Unfortunately, no matter how many times I entered the photograph into the pattern software, I would never get the exact same pattern as I had the first time–the color scheme would never match up perfectly. Still turned out pretty well though.
And all those areas in the bottom right that just look ‘gray’? This is how they look close up.
I’ve still got a ways to go, because even after that large blackish area is filled in, there are little empty spots on the accordion keys that need to be filled in. Still, I hope to finish it entirely in the next day or two (hooray).
It’s strange to think that this project is my vacation from ‘real work,’ the stuff I would actually exhibit. I’m honestly not sure what to work on once this is finished, but suffice it to say that there are a couple bigger ideas in the works.
For now though: more sewing.
